Launch of the Inter-Parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy. Meeting of the Presidency Troika and the European Parliament
On Sunday, 23 March, a meeting of the Presidency Troika and the European Parliament, which conventionally precedes the launch of the Inter-Parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CFSP/CSDP IPC) took place in the Sejm. The debates were led by the chairs of the National Defence Committee of the Sejm, Mr. Andrzej Grzyb and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Seante, Senator Grzegorz Schetyna.
The first part of the meeting was devoted to approving the agenda of the Inter-Parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy. The attendees then adopted a draft joint statement of the Chairs.
The document was prepared jointly by the Sejm and the Senate in consultation with representatives of the European Parliament. The meeting was also devoted to the information on the upcoming CFSP/CSDP IPC meeting, scheduled for 26-28 August in Copenhagen.
The Sejm was also represented by the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Paweł Kowal and the Deputy Chair of the European Union Affairs Committee, Mr. Marek Krząkała. The Senate was represented by the Chair of the National Defence Committee, Senator Mirosław Różański. The list of participants also included the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian parliament Zsolt Németh, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Danish parliament Lars-Christian Brask and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Danish parliament Jon Stephensen. The European Parliament was represented by the Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Affairs David McAllister.
