A meeting of the Transatlantic Legislators’ Dialogue was held in the Column Hall of the Sejm on 14–15 June. MEPs from the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with the United States and the Delegation of the Transatlantic Legislative Dialogue of the United States Congress participated in the debate.
During Saturday’s session, the parties talked about bilateral trade relations and ensuring continued successful transatlantic economic relations. On Sunday, representatives of the United States and Europe covered transatlantic cooperation in the field of energy security. The next working session was devoted to the future of US-European relations, including security and defence matters, along with ensuring a just and lasting peace in Europe. Participants also reflected
on the prospects and challenges of artificial intelligence and the digital revolution.
The meeting was opened by the chairs of the Transatlantic Legislators’ Dialogue – Brando Benifei, member of the European Parliament, and Nathaniel Moran, member of the US House of Representatives. Among the attendees was Paweł Kowal – Chairman of the Sejm Committee for Foreign Affairs.
Meetings between members of European and American parliaments serve as a platform for cooperation and debate on shared areas of interest. The delegates meet twice a year, alternating between Europe and the United States. The events in the European Union are held in the capital of the state holding the presidency in the Council of the European Union.
